The Sanger Unified School District is a highly acclaimed, top 10 California school district, that is home to a diverse and growing student population.
Expanding over 180 square miles and approximately 12,000 students, Sanger Unified is a system of 20 schools, including 12 elementary sites, two K-8 charter schools, a middle school, a K-12 independent study charter school, and one comprehensive high school. In addition, there is an alternative education
continuation school, a community day school, and adult school, and seven transitional kindergarten classrooms.
At each of our sites, we provide high quality programs from faculty and staff that are second to none, so that all students have educational opportunities and options for their future. In Sanger Unified, we have 3 goals; the first is to provide a high-quality education system to raise the academic achievement of all students, second this system will focus on high academic rigor with a multi-tiered component geared at narrowing the achievement gap for all students, and finally the district will function with increasing efficiency and effectiveness in all areas of operation that promote a safe school environment.
In order to align district goals to funding opportunities, in 2013 the State Board of Education adopted a funding formula for all k12 schools in California. This formula is known as the Local Control Funding Formula or LCFF. And it disburses funds to districts based on certain criteria. From this formula, schools
receive money and have to develop a plan to spend the funding.
The Local Control Accountability Plan referred to as LCAP, is the districts 3 year plan that outlines the details of how the funds will be spent for our students based on the three district goals. LCAP monies have made a tremendous impact across our district. We have invested in expanding preschool opportunities by adding programs and doubling attendance. We have increased after school initiatives by increasing enrollment and establishing new LEAP programs
at Sanger High School and 3 elementary schools.
We now have early literacy programs supported by specialists at all elementary sites. We’ve expanded our English Language Development Support and created Dual Language Program opportunities.
Sanger Unified has added to our Music and Arts department by having weekly music classes for every 2nd and 3rd grade student. Our district facilitates a music workshop with the Fresno Philharmonic for all 4th grade students and a middle school percussion program has been established.
To continue to prepare our students for the rigors of the 21st century, Sanger Unified has made a district wide commitment to provide more opportunities for Robotics and STEM options by hiring teachers and expanding facilities. We have established pathways at the middle and high school level to support the
varied interest of our students and we have provided every student in our 5th through 12th grades with iPads to enhance their educational experience.
In addition to the LCAP, Sanger Unified is grateful for a community dedicated to its children. With their support, we have passed bonds that enable the district to modernize and enhance current facilities while embracing the future with plans for a career tech ed complex for high school and jr. high school
Over the years, the Sanger Unified School District has garnered local, state, and national acclaim. We’ve been awarded 24 distinguished school honors, 19 Title I academic awards, 3 National Blue-Ribbon elementary schools, and Sanger High School is a 3 time distinguished high school, a U.S. news and World
report, silver and bronze award winner, and was recently honored for the 21st century education innovation.
