Provisional Appointment: Board of Trustees, Area 3

The Sanger Unified School District Board of Trustees is announcing a vacancy in Trustee Area 3 and will be making a provisional appointment in accordance with Education Code Sections 5091, 35107, and Board Bylaw 9223.

This appointment will be for two years, and the seat will be on the ballot November 2026.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements pursuant to Education Code 35107, including:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a citizen of the state
  • Be a resident of Sanger Unified Trustee Area 3
  • Be a registered voter
  • Not be disqualified from holding office due to a conviction of a designated crime or other disqualifying factors

Application Packet Requirements

Applicants must complete and submit the following materials:

  1. Full Legal Name
  2. Proof of Residency in Trustee Area 3 (e.g., current utility bill, mortgage/lease agreement.  Financial specifics may be redacted)
  3. Proof of Voter Registration showing registration in Area 3. Party affiliation must be redacted before submission; available via the California Secretary of State https://voterstatus.sos.ca.gov/
  4. Self-Certification Statement affirming eligibility and disqualification status (included in the application form)

Selection Process

  • The Board will advertise the vacancy and invite applications through local media and district communications.
  • A subcommittee of the Board (less than a quorum) will screen applications and verify eligibility.
  • Eligible applicants will be interviewed at a public Board meeting on May 27, 2025, where community input will be invited during Open Forum.
  • The Board will make the appointment by majority vote in open session.
  • Within 10 days of the appointment, public notice of the vacancy and appointment will be posted in three public places and published in accordance with Government Code 6061.

If a petition for special election is not filed within 30 days of the appointment, the provisional appointment will become effective until the November 2026 election.
